International Festival
March 4 through March 12, 2011

The Merchants of Hudson are teaming up with Community First to host a town-wide International Festival, Friday, March 4th through Saturday, March 12th. Thirty-three businesses throughout Hudson have signed on to represent a country with store decorations, music, flags, maps, interesting facts and quizzes about their country.

The opening night kick-off on March 4th will be an International Food & Spirits Event from 6-9 PM. Each business will have a tasting of food and beverages (alcoholic and/or non-) from their host country. Passports will be distributed and people are invited to travel around the world during these nine days.

On Saturday afternoon, March 12th, an International Dance Festival will be held at the new home of Young Actors Studio (86 Owen Brown St., Hudson). Irish, Italian and African dances will be among the dances performed. Local dance troupes have been contacted, and are excited to be participating. Any groups not yet contacted may contact Michael Freedman for more information (micfreed@roadrunner.com).

Immediately following the dance program there will be a Parade of Flags, and those who have had their passports stamped at various "countries" may turn them in for prizes. A closing ceremony of a Prayer for World Peace will be led by local clergy from the Hudson Ministerial Association.

Businesses or organizations wanting more information on the International Festival and how to participate may contact Debra Sherman at 330-256-8704.
