On Thursday evening, September 21, The Hudson Fine Art Gallery and Open Door Coffee Co. will host a fundraiser, "Busting at the Seams", to benefit children very far from Hudson, Ohio. The event is in conjunction with The Lesotho Connection (TLC) which partners with the St. Camillus Centre, an orphanage in the African country of Lesotho. In recent weeks, a record number of children have come through the door stretching resources to the max and creating an urgent need for help.

The event will be hosted by Charles and Deborah Pinnell, owners of Open Door Coffee Co., and Kathy Johnson of Hudson Fine Art & Framing Co. "We have strong ties with Southern Africa as I was born and raised there. We are very familiar with Lesotho and the plight of children in its rural, poverty stricken areas. It is an honor to open our doors to this wonderful fundraising event in Hudson. We applaud the amazing volunteer doctors and workers who head up the Lesotho Project,” said Charles Pinnell of Open Door Coffee Co.

Organized by Chagrin Falls resident and Lesotho volunteer Linda Henry, the fundraiser will feature a wine and beer tasting with heavy hors d'oeuvres, a live African drumming demonstration and a chance to meet orphanage doctors and volunteers. Tickets are $50 per person and are available at www.thelesothoconnection.org/events and at the door. It will run from 5:30 to 9:00 at Hudson Fine Art Gallery which is interconnected with Open Door Coffee Co.at 164 North Main, Hudson.

Just in time for Halloween, Young Actors Studio will perform Zombie Prom.  This Off Broadway musical is set in the atomic 1950s at Enrico Fermi High School where a zany, tyrannical principal tries to keep control of her students.  However, issues arise when the pretty senior, Toffee, falls in love with the class bad boy.  Due to family pressure and past history, she is forced to end the romance.  With a broken heart, the bad boy charges off on his motorcycle to the nuclear waste dump.  After being exposed to the toxic waste, he returns to the school glowing and determined to reclaim Toffee's heart. He still wants to graduate, but more than anything, he is determined to take Toffee to the prom.  The principal orders him to "drop dead" while a local reporter searching for a scandal, labels him as the freak du jour!  You won't want to miss how a great selection of original 1950 songs keep the action rocking across the stage!  Show dates are October 12 - 14 at 7:00pm each evening with an additional matinee at 2:00 on the 14th.  Tickets are $8.00 each and can be purchased on Young Actors Studio Website at www.youngactorsstudio.net.  For more information, please contact Young Actors Studio located at 86 Owen Brown Street in Hudson or by calling 330-653-8525.  This show promises to be a ghoulish good time!!
